  1. In St. John's Point situated in South Donegal there are no trees and very few bushes.
On the land of Patrick McCready was a thorn bush, the only one in a square mile.
It was looked upon with great reverence by the people on account of its great age.
It grows beside the path used by the fishermen when going to and from their work.
When the men were going to their work one Monday morning in October 1938 they were surprised to see the thorn turned right over by the storm. They all gathered, tried to raise the bush, but were unable to raise it up again to their great sorrow.
Coming home in the evening it was in the same position. To their surprise on Tuesday morning the thorn was in its former position as if it had not been tossed and there was not a foot-mark on the ground.
Mr McCready says he heard voices during the night but on looking out could see no one. The fairies had gathered during the night an lifted it up.
