Ar an leathanach seo
- There are but 2 smiths in the parish and both live in the village. They are brothers and the forges are situated beside a river. The trade has been handed down for generations. Both have been renovated and are up to date structures with broad sliding doors such as one would find on a garage. Each has one hearth on raised platform the fire consisting of special coal slack being placed beside a wall through which comes a pipe from a circular bellows placed behind. A long wood lever pulled by hand works the bellows to secure a forced draught. These bellows are not home made. Beside the platform is a water trough - in one forge of wood and in the other of stone. The water is used for both cooling iron and "tempering" steel.
The smith makes shoes for horses and donkeys. Farm implements such as rácám, harrows, picks, turf spades, axes as well repairs to ploughs, reaping machines and any instrument with iron in its composition are attended to by smith.
