- Foods that have ceased to be used. Boxty bread was made from raw potatoes. First the potatoes are washed, peeled and grated and put into a clean cloth. The water is wrung out of them, they are then put into a basin and mixed with flour, soda and salt. It is then cut in farrels and put in the oven.
Sowens was made from seedy meal. First it is steeped in a basin of water for four days then the seeds are taken out of the water and boiled.- Bailitheoir
