“It was said it was unlucky to begin work on a Saturday because it would never be finished.”
It was said it was unlucky to begin work on a Saturday because it would never be finished. It was also considered unlucky to buy or sell on Sunday. Men often bought goods from merchants and then went to work for them. They helped to put down the crop or cut the turf for them. The markets were held at cross-roads or at the meeting of two rivers or in glens. There was a market in Glenties long ago for live pigs which is not there now because the farmers of this district have ceased to rear pigs.- Bailitheoir
