- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)stones as the grass grew over them. The oldest date I could find was 1805. A man named Philip Thompson was buried in this year. There are no head-stones or crosses over the unbaptized children.
Some of the head-stones are made of stone, others of marble, others of wood, and others of iron. These are all different in shape, some are shaped like crosses, and others are just shaped like large stones. In one end of the graveyard there is a vault, which contains many large stones. This vault belongs to the Wilson family. This family was very wealthy and owned a good deal of land, The coffins are lined with lead and are laid under the stones.
There are a number of trees growing here and there through the graveyard. There are iron rails around some of the graves . Some of the Raphoe people are buried in Ray graveyard. This is an old graveyard near manorcunningham. A number of the Raphoe families also go to Convoy, graveyard. The reason of this is because the Raphoe people had to go to Convoy Church as there were no Church in Raphoe at the time.
The McShane family is a very old family and when any one of them is getting buried the Church bell is rung. It is said that the McShanes asked this request, because this Church once belonged to the Catholics. My father told me this story.
