    he was born and where he was then residing. As he walked on he said leán which means flow. As long as he kept walking the water kept flowing.
    When he came the length of a place known now as Lough Fern he grew very tired and he sat down to take a rest and while he was resting he fell asleep. When he awoke he was astonished to see that the water had not moved. When he got up he renewed his work saying the same word leán. Then the water started to flow again until it came to Ramelton and then it [flew] flowed into Lough Swilly. Therefore it is called the River Lennon or Leánan.
