  1. Many old ruins of houses are to be found in the townland of the Glen. In one of these old ruins there used to live a man named, John Grier. One day he found an old rope in the hills, apparently of no value, so he threw it into a corner.
    One night a cow broke loose in the byre and he bound up her chain with the old rope.
    That night the cow filled every dish in the house with milk and still more milk.
    They all wondered what could be wrong, then the thought of the rope occurred to them.
    So they took it off and decided to burn it. But it wriggled about as if alive, till at length the whole family were holding it in their
