    Old Graveyard - Taughboyne
    In the townland of Monreagh, Carrigans, there is a very old graveyard called Taughboyne. It is about six miles from our village of Newtowncunningham. It is a square-shaped graveyard and the church is right in the middle of it. The church is still used. It belongs to the Protestants, but Catholics bury in the graveyard as well as Protestants. The graveyard lies sloped to the South-east. There are some very old headstones in it. There is one was erected in the year 1641, and it lies on top of the grave; it was broken, but it is now propped up with iron bars. Another old tombstone there has a rooster, a pack of cards and a draughts board cut out on top of it. There is a great number of graves and headstones in the old graveyard.
