    Weather Lore
A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning, and a rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight.
This old rhyme tells us that a rainbow at morning is the sign of rough unsettled weather, and a rainbow at night is the sign of fine settled weather.
A circle round the sun or moon is the sign of a storm, and he further the circle is from the sun or moon, the nearer is the storm.
A mackerel sky with mare's tails is the sign of wind or rain
Bits of rainbows on the horizon is the sign of bad weather
Clear visibility is a bad sign. The distant hills are looking nigh.
When the stars are dull and blurred there is rain or sleet overhead which may fall or pass over to some other place.
