    In the mean-time Martin's mother and brother returned home from the market, and of course they were very astonished to see all the laces he had got.
    When they heard his story they were greatly annoyed, and the brother seizing an axe went in pursuit of the pedlar.
    He did not go far until he saw him fast asleep by the road side and in a sudden temper he struck him on the head and killed him instantly. Now that he was killed, he could easily rescue his money and also whatever money the pedlar owned
    He then carried the dead body to a garden behind the house, where he dug a hole and buried him.
    When he came to himself he decided to raise the body again and bury it in a different place in case Martin would discover the secret. He then killed an old goat and buried it in the first grave.
