- The devil and the GamblerA woman and her son lived together. The boy was very fond of gambling and the woman saved her money. One night the boy had no money so he stole the money his mother had. As the boy was on the way home he met a man and they sat down to play cards. The boy saw his mother beckon to him but he did not mind. Again she beckoned and pointed down to the man's feet. The boy looked at the man's feet but he found they were cloven. The boy went home but found his mother was dead. She had died when she found her money was gone.Told by Eileen McCormack
