The potatoes when grated formed a thick soft substance to which salt and bread soda were added and then the whole mixture was dried up with flour and cut into four parleys and baked on a griddle or in a pan without a lid.
Another type of bread made was Potatoe-cake which was made from boiled potatoes peeled and mashed up in a basin and mixed with salt and flour and sometimes oaten-meal.
