He went in and there was an old woman sitting by the fireside. He told her the whole story but she told him that she could do nothing for him. He remained there for the night. Next morning he again started on his journey and kept going for days and days through mountains, rocks and valleys. Fatigued and worn out he lay down by the side of a rock and in the valley below he saw a light and when he drew near it he found that it was a cave. There he saw another woman who spoke Irish and called him by his name. He remained there for the night. When he was going the next morning she gave him a ball of thread which was fastened to a ball of wire and this was fastened to a ruler and she told him to hold the tread and to(continues on next page)
