But the mouse so multiplied that it filled the pot. When the mouse was cooked they gave him a mug of the broth to drink. And when he had drank the broth he got such knowledge that he could see all the gold belonging to the Danes in Ireland. He then thought that he was a rich man. The Danes then gave him some of the meat but as soon as he tasted it he lost all the knowledge. Ah! adubhairt sé "meireach ? fheol ba mhór an siogh anbhruith"
He now left the Danes and came back to live in his native Kilkerrin. He was afraid to go into the fort. The hound would tear him. But he told the story to neighbours and that is how they knew the barrel of gold was hidden in the fort in Sliabh Ruaidh.- Bailitheoir
