giant arose, and killed his son thinking that he was the little beggar. Before dawn the next morning the boy knew the danger that he was in, and so he stole out of the castle bringing with him a bag of gold and a hen which laid golden eggs. He ran home and showed his wealth to his mother.
The woman was greatly astonished and asked him where he got them, and he told his mother the whole incident. Every day the hen laid a golden egg and he sold them at the markets and got a very high price for them. It was not long until the boy and his mother were the richest people in the country.
