- There are numerous stories told by the old people during the long Winter nights. I happened to be listening to the following story told by my grandfather about a forth.
There is a forth in Annaughbrenaghan. It is supposed to have been made by the Danes after their arrival in Ireland in the year 785. There are different opinions regarding how the forths were made. Some people say that the forths were erected as a protection for the Irish people against the wild animals. Others say they were built by the fairies and are still inhabited by them.
