- Long ago fairs used to be held here and there throughout every townland. In the town of Killorglin there was a crossroad called "ceannóbríg" cross. On this cross and on the road round about it a monthly fair used to be held there. Whenever the weather was fine it was held twice a month. A large number of buyers always attended, and the fair was increasing every day.The people that used have no cattle at the fairs has to pay money to enter it. This was paid to a certain man who was standing by himself taking it. This money was called "custom". When the people used make up their minds to go to fairs the first thing they would do was to cut a black-thorn(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
