Legend - The Black pig of Ben Bulbin.
the hounds. He made direct for the man and attacked him on the side of the mountain. There was a mortal encounter between the man and the pig of the mountain. The boar ripped the man's side open with his long vicious tusks letting the man's blood flow freely into the bog and heath on the side of the hill. Before the man was disabled he made deep wounds in the animals side. His entrails were hanging out as he fled before the hounds. The black pig ran wildly along the sea shore from Lisadell to Inniscrone where he died roaring so wildly that the people fled in terror from around Inniscrone. Where he died the people of the district built a large mound of earth over his body believing by this means that he would be prevented from roaming the country side any longer. In Glencarr where the fought took place there is the shadow of a pig to be seen during the long summer's day moving among the mountains.
