- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Married women wore bonnets, (black) tied under the chin with black ribbon. Mothers in law no matter what age wore the white cap with its lace frills, piped and starched. My grandmother, who would now be over 100 years had a pipe for "piping" her cap frills. It was of iron and as sketched.
(fig)
The point she heated and inserted in the lace frill to give it a curved, up and down edge.
She had also spinning wheel and a reel. On the wheel she spun for flannel, blankets, frieze and druggid.
On the reel she made hanks of the spun thread.
The reel had two cogged wheels, a very large and a small one. It gave a shot when the hank was wound.- Bailitheoir
