- There were many landlords in this county. There was a landlord in this parish, and his name was Crosbie. He had a fine Castle and he had a lot of land. The people had to pay him rents and if they did not he would put them out of their house and give it to any one he liked. When he went away he sold his castle to Jerry Leen.
All t he land of the Parish belonged to him and from that reason the tenants had to pay him rent every year for the land. They had to work very hard to make out the rent. If this was not paid the tenants would be evicted without even being notified. There were two special days during the year on which the rent should be paid.
He was a good man in many ways; he gave a lot employment to the people of the place but the servants who worked his house, and also his beautiful garden should be Protestants. He had no mercy for people who could not pay their rents; he evicted them at once! After a time the Land Commission purchased from Colonel Crosbie. This reduced the rents for the tenants which was a great relief to them. The(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
