- "Stampy" used to be made in this district long ago. In fact there is a family in the town called the "Stampy Bakers".
The people now use wheat to make bread, but long ago they used oats. They ground the oats with a quern. This is how they made bread in our house. Our bread-pan is got in which the flour is put on a spoon-and-a-half of soda is then mixed with the flour to make it rise. Sour-milk is next added and it is mixed for a while, a pinch of salt is added sometimes. The(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
