- There is a Rath in Rathcormac not far from our School. It is named after a chief called Cormac who once lived in the district.
There is no fence round it but it is surrounded by a thick hedge. Once there was an entrance but through time it fell in. The owner ploughs the field every year but never goes near the forth. I was told that there is a tunnel for soldiers to escape to the sea in this fort but no one knows the opening.
Crying was often heard round this fort & I was told to that farmers & soldiers were seen.
Wynn's forth is in full view of it. Long ago a man cut a tree in Rathcormac forth & while he was cutting a drop of blood splashed on his hands. Not long afterwards he died.
