- There is an herb called the cuckoo sorrel. It is a long thin leaf that grows around rushes. When the juice is bruised out of it and rubbed on the Whitlow it will cure it.
- To cure a wound or cut an herb is got which is called St Patrick's leaf. It grows in the fields but it is more common in a place where the grass is scarce or on trampled ground.It is put on the wound for two days. If it is not healed it is taken off and a new one put on.
