the grave of a giant who is said to have lived there long ago.
There are eight families in the townland and these include forty one people.
Most of the houses are thatched, indeed all except one.
There is a very old woman living in this district. She is ninty years of age. Her name is Mrs Higgins and her address is Heapstown, Ballindoon, Boyle. She knew some Irish when she was young but she forgets it all.
The townland got its name from the big heap of stones beside Heapstown big house.
The land in parts is boggy and hilly but the most part of it is good land. There are not any rivers and streams in any part of it, but Lough Arrow bounds it on the South.
The houses are not as numerous as they were years ago.
