A dozen troopers rushed on their aged victim. A sword fell on his tonsused head and he dropped at the Altar. The monks were slaughtered in their stalls. The Church was desecrated and before long was a heap of smoldering ruins.
The peasantry, attracted by lusid flames of the monastery rushed madly upon the troops and Harrison never lived to boast to Cromwell of his deed of burning. After the Reformation, the church was taken possession of by the protestants and is now their burial ground.
