- There are many kinds of travelling folk such as, Beggers, Tinkers, and Gypsies.
The Beggers go from house to house begging food and they have no place to sleep. In Summer time they lie out in the fields at night and in Winter someone gives them shelter. What a dreary life a begger has, tramping all day in rain and cold and often hungry. Some houses shut their doors against them and set their dogs on them.
The tinkers or tinsmiths make useful articles for the house such as gallons, basins and saucepans and mend all tin articles. Some of them have caravans in which they can live and sleep. Some of the poor tinkers have not got caravans(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
