farmer who did not give him his rights. Until then the farmer was prospering greatly but from the time that the boy sold his soul to the devil he had great ill-luck. He could not sleep nor rest in his house. His cows and calves died. He and his family disagreed very often. He did not know what misfortune was on him.
The story spread amongst the neighbours. Servant boys or girls would not work in the house. At last the farmer planned on sending for a priest to read mass in the house. The priest came and just as he was half way through the Mass the trouble started again. The priest was afraid to go on, he expected harm to be done as the furniture was being thrown about the house.
Now said the priest to the farmer you have nothing to do but to leave this house and go away. Though the farmer was lazy he left and took another house elsewhere.
Luck came back to him again in his new home and he always paid his servants afterwards.
