Canon James Carmody was the next parish priest, and he carried out some minor repairs to the delapidated church. The present parish priest (1938) is the Very Rev. James J. Canon O'Sullivan, who out of his own family money, and without putting a penny tax[?] on the parishioners, built the beautiful new church of Our Lady of the Rosary at a cost of about £8000. This church was dedicated by the most Rev. Fr O'Brien Bishop of Kerry on the day of October 1938. A vast concourse of people attended the ceremony and the village was adorned with scrolls and bunting. Some of the slates covering the old church were removed to cover a portion of the new church. The altar in the old church was taken down and re-erected in the new church.
Fr O'Sullivan was ably assisted in his work by a young energetic curate - Father James O'Connor, a native of Killarney.
