- The swallows are the most plentiful birds in the district. They migrate to the south when the winter comes but they are sure to come back when the flowers are growing. The swallows builds its nest in the roof of a cow house, and makes it of hay, moss and woll. There are different kinds of birds, round our district, the Godfinch, peewit the sparrow, the robin, the thrush, the blackbird. The goldfinch beuilds it's nest of moss and hair, not far up in a whitethorn bush. The goldfinch lays five eggs and hatches them very carefully for about a fortnight. The peewit lays on a mossy bank and hatcher her eggs for a fortnight or more. If the wild geese are noisy it is the sign of rain or a wind storm, and if the swallows fly high in the sky it is the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
