    makes its nest of straw and lines it with wool. It lays four or five pale blue eggs, with grey spots on them. The jackdaw builds its nest in a chimney. It makes it of twigs. It lays five or six pale blue eggs spotted with brown.
    There are other birds that frequent pools and streams. The principal of these are the water-hen, the king fisher and the wild duck.
    These birds mostly build their nests of withered reeds and straw.
    The water hen lays from eight to fourteen white eggs with brown spots on them. The king fisher makes its nest in a burrow. It lays six to nine with eggs.
