    "Land League" and it's kindred organisation, and was again and again prosecuted and imprisoned.
    An able speaker and intrepid fighter, as well as a clever young journalist, he attracted the attention of Parnell, and was asked to undertake the work of Land League organiser, which invariably meant a passport to prison. In 1892 he was elected M.P for South Leitrim, and remained a Member of Parliament until 1906.
    During his fourteen years in the House of Commons he took a leading part in all the stormy debates of that period, especially in the obstructive tactics introduced by the late Joseph Biggar. Explaining what that campaign entailed the late Mr. Tully would say: "It meant talking rapidly, and without hesitation for a moment on some subject you knew nothing about." He went about his Parliamentary duties with indefatigable energy and outstanding ability
