- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)During the famine there lived in Piltown a widow and her son. Before the famine they had a barrel of yellow-meal. They spared it during the famine. One day a very poor woman in to look for food. She thanked her.(a) She gave her a snuff-box full. After some time they ran short. They went to bed hungry. In the morning they thought they had no food. They went to scrape the barrel and they found it was full of meal. They were very glad. They distributed it amongst the neighbours. It was always full. It lasted during the famine. When the famine was over the meal went but the potatoes were very plentiful with them.
