    Another very sad accident occurred in Mr. Richard Keefe's house Tickerlivan about six years ago. An engine was threshing the corn. It was a very showery day, and the engine used to stop at intervals to allow shower to clear away. John Byrne aged 17 years, and a cousin to Mrs Keefe was on the mill. The engine-man forgot to cover the top, and as young Byrne was jumping across he fell down into the mill. His leg was amputated in the mill. He was removed immediately to Kilkenny hospital where he died immediately. The patience of the boy was wonderful. He answered the rosary with the men after the occurrence. The amputated limb was removed from the mill next day. The engine was owned by David Prendergast Coppena.
