  1. There were cruel laws in the penal days, the people were not allowed to improve their houses or the rent would be raised until they (would) were not able to pay it & then they would be evicted. The dung-lock was outside the door which was very unhealthy but this had to be done so that the rents would not be raised if a man had ten cattle one of them would be taken and given to the protestant minaster.
    If a priest was caught saying mass he was beheaded there
