  1. The road leading from Clogh to Castlecomer is called the Loone road because it passes through a townsland called Loone. The road from Clogh cross roads to Gazebo or Moneenroe is called The Boneyarrow road. It is not known when they were made. The bye-road on which I live branches off the Boneyarrow road and runs through Tourtane to Kill. It ended at my house up to a few years ago but it is now run out to meet the main Maryboro Carlow road. This bye-road was made as relief work during the Famine period and the men employed were paid at the rate of 4d per day.
    The first road in remembrance around here was only a rack from Cork to Dublin. After leaving Ballinakill it went up Knacogrisheen down throughh Aghatubrid through Slatt, Moyrath Kilcruise and Glosna to Athy. Part of the present road at Chatsworth and Kilcruise was once the old track. The first coach road to Dublin ran through Castlecomer wood by Ardara, Larue pit and the present Moneenroe, thence through Doonane to Kilcruise and Athy. It was on this road that the 98 men travelled.
    It was the custom to stop funerals at cross roads years and to have the De Profundis recited. There is a large bush growing outside a
