- Long ago sugan chairs were very plentiful, but they are getting very rare now, as few people are able to make them. My father Thomas Hennessy told me how they were made.
First the frame of the chair is made from wood. The philobin, a fork-shaped stick is got, and put in to the rick of hay. One will twist it, and the other will supply it with hay, until the sugan is long enough for use. It is then woven in and out through the frame of the seat, from left to right, and from back to front, until the chair is made. It is then very comforatable to sit on.- Bailitheoir
