- During the penal Laws long ago hunted priests had to say mass in the Mountains and caves.
There is a Mass bush in Danganroe by the side of the river Nore, where a priest said Mass long ago, and the congregation knelt around the river. The place is now flooded with water.
There was a prayer book lost here by the priest. He was afraid any one would find it, and tell Cromwell's soldiers that he used to say Mass there. When he could not find it he turned it into a marble-book. It was found there last Summer, by a boy called Patrick Wall.
