Two men went cutting rods one morning. It was between day and dark. They were two brothers names Flanagans. They were cutting rods beside the fort and they heard a terrible noise. One said to the other Patsy what is that. On hearing the noise they ran home. The fairies were calling Patsy every minute until they reached home.
(II)
In olden times the people always left water in their homes at night. One night the fairies came into a house in Aughamore, Ballyhaunis Co Mayo, and they asked the woman of the house for a drink of water. The woman said she had no water in the house, but she told one of them to go and milk the cow. So one of the fairies did as he was told. After that the cow never gave them a drop of milk.- Bailitheoir
