  1. Rath na dTarbh- one of the forts surrounding the Great fort of Rathcroghan is supposed to be the place where the treasures of the Kings and queens of Connaught are buried. The treasure is said to consist of gold cups and ornaments. It is said that it is guarded by a bull and that anyone who attempts to dig for it will be attacked.
A story says that at one time a man stayed home from Mass one Sunday to search for the treasure. That evening he had not returned home and his neighbours went in search of him. On arriving at Rath na dTarbh they fond the spot where he had commenced to dig and nearby his body which was badly battered and mutilated as if it had been gored by a bull.
Rath na dTarbh lies about five hundred yards west of Rath Cruachain itself.
In this district also lights have been seen by various people, many of whom are still alive. The lights travel at some height from the ground and seem to go from one Rath to another.
I have spoken to several men who assured me that they saw the lights and that there could be no possibility of mistake.
