- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)is called the body and the upper part is called the Koskeen. Then we have the lid and the dash. If a neighbour comes in when we are churning he takes the dash. It is an old belief in former times that the butter was taken away, and this custom of helping to churn was supposed to prevent it. This is customary at the present day. The churning is done by hand with a dash. It is moved upwards and downwards through the milk. In this way the butter is made. The butter is then well washed and salted and made into rolls. In former times it was thought to be very lucky to churn on November Day. Some old people never gave away milk on May morning as it was a sign of badluck for the year.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
