- Creels are carriers or basket-like constructions used in most country places.
They are of various shapes according to the purposes for which they are used. Some of them are deep and have two woven handles of osiers others are of the same shape but instead of having two handles similar to those discribed above they have two rush or straw handles, known as "eirishes" to enable the person carrying the creel to sling it over his shoulders. Some creels are shallow and boat-shaped and are used in the country houses for taking in the nightly supple of turf.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
