- One very common story is about a "Caitearnac", who lived near Eyeries. The "Ceithearnacs" in olden times were the high up or grand people, and they thought themselves too smart to mix up with the poor farmers. This man went to Castletown one fair-day, and he met one of his fellow friends there. They went into a public-house together for a drink, and they enjoyed themselves to perfection until the evening. When the "Cuthearnach" from Eyeries was going home he stopped outside the door of another public-house and knocked at it. The maid came out to him. It was a custom in those days that when the "Cuthearnachs" would be on their horse somebody would loosen their shoes for ease. This day the maid opened them for him and he took another glass of whiskey. He went away home then, but he was very drunk. When he was half way home he(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
