- There were but few shops in this district in former times. Although there were shops in it most of the people used to go to the nearest town to do their shopping. Long ago buying and selling was carried on, on holidays but it is not carried on now.
Sugar, tea and all kinds of groceries were sold. Money was always given for goods but labour was not given. Sometimes goods were given on "tick" until the people would be able to pay for them. The markets used to be held on Saturdays and in the nearest town.
There are no account of dealers and pedlars who used to visit the district in former times. The names of coins that are gone out of use, are the crown farthing, four shilling piece.- Bailitheoir
