- Shops were not common in olden times. People had to go to the nearest town to purchase and sell. We do not know of buying and selling ever carried on after Mass. It is not still practised. Money was always given for goods.
We do not of goods ever bartered in this district. It was considered unlucky for business to be carried on on Sundays. A market was carried on in every town and is still held there. We do not know of huxters, pedlars or dealers in feathers or rags to visit this district.
Some dealers in feathers come now. The Sovereign, half-sovereign, farthing, five shilling piece and four-penny bit are gone out of use.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
