- A Druids Altar
Situated about fifty yards in front of our house is a cromlech or druid's altar.
It is a relic of ancient days when human sacrifice was adhered to. (It was the altar of the pagan priests) and is probably more than fifteen hundred year old.
It's structure consists of one large flat stone in a slanting position, resting on several others in an upright position. On the flat stone are numbers of little cup like hollows, which are deemed to have been receptables for the blood of the sacrifice.
This cromlech is in the centre of the field, surrounded by a clump of trees, which almost obscure it form view, and this group of trees is itself surrounded by six other similar groups, so(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
