    the priest because in the election of M.P. for the borough in 1837, Fr MacNamara with the other priests of the town opposed the candidate favoured by Kearney.
    Among the priests named in connection with Ballinamona Chapel are Fr Hurley P.P. who lived in a neighbouring farmhouse for some time ; also Fr Walsh C.C. and Fr Taylor C.C. The Friars used also say Mass at Ballinamona. Fr Taylor who lived in a house in Cork Street directly opposite the Friary, was accustomed to ride out on Sunday mornings via Friars' St and Bandon Road. He attended to the repairs of the Chapel such as the renewal of the thatch
    Fr Taylor found it difficult to get donations for this purpose from some of the residents of [?] - An Bothar Dubh - and speaking of these [?] from the altar he used to say (in Irish, of course) that they had not a heart as big as that of a dreóilín ar sgeach
    One Sunday morning Fr Taylor became ill when about to commence Mass. By an effort of will he overcame his weakness and celebrated the
