    - neale, Ballingarry and "Cherrygrove" owned by Mr. Sheehy. The Lynevoor is a deep, dark sluggish pool some 60 yards long and overhung at present on the western bank by tall Sgeacha (?). The Lynebeg is a smallish circular pool immediately below the Lynevoor. Both pools hold salmon in the season, the former also always houses pike of a good size and the latter pool never fails to yield good trout to the persistent angler.
    On page 44 section 32 there is a note on the location of TERRYALT. Maurice Devaney, Railway porter (40) Croom, tells me that when a boy he used to hear it said that the "Whiteboys" used visit the farmers and ask them to give a portion of their land, say a rood or a half-acre to a working-man to enable the latter to raise a crop to support his family. Where the farmer assented all was well, but where he refused the "Whiteboys" came by night and dug up and tilled the best part of his farm. In the case of Terryalt, the "free-crop" was refused so they came by night and dug up the whole field and he concluded "that is why they called it the Terryalt". As he understood the name it meant land that was compulsorly acquired for tillage. He further added that the people used the name "Break o' day boys" which on my
