- Our domestic animals at home are
cows, calves, yearlings, horses, cats, dogs
sheep and a donkey. We have six
cows and we call them the long-legs,
the kerry, the short tail, the polly,
the old black cow and the mag-
pie.
When driving the cows in or
out of a field we say "How How".
Similarly with calves. The house for
cows is called the cowhouse. The cows
are tied to stakes or in bails.
If cows are cross when milking they
are tied by the legs. The material for the
tying of cows is made of cord. Palm
is put up in every house on the farm
on Palm Sunday. There are no stories
told about horses being kept in a
stable for seven years.
When calling hens we say
Tuk, Tuk. When calling turkeys we
say "Bee Bee" and calling geese
we say "Baddy Baddy". Ducks are
called "Puddle Puddle" or "feed feed".
