    Coosáne Wiers after fishing and all of a sudden a ball of light dropped down from the sky. He estimated its diameter at about one hundred yards. It dropped in the middle of the Shannon and stopped lighting on the water for about ten seconds. While it lasted it was as bright as the day.
    In the Penal times there was a Protestant Gentleman living in Parteen. He had in his employment a Roman Catholic girl as a housemaid. She became seriously ill and asked one of the other servants to send for a priest. The servant sent for the priest and he arrived soon after getting the account. The gentleman invited him into his parlour and gave him food and a drink. They conversed for some time and he started for home. Before he started the gentleman offered him another drink which he accepted. He then started for home but he died on the way out. The local people became indignant at what occured and one night assembled in secret and appointed a certain night to raid the gentleman's house. They carried out their resolve and brought him out one night opposite the hall door of his house and hung him on the goulouge of a tree. Their secret password was St. Patrick. The man who hung the Gentleman was a Mr Jebert who was working on the Shannon Scheme. Mr. Jebert was shot
