- I often heard my Grand Father talk of Ghost stories. He told us of one particular night that he saw something he knew to be unreal. It happened he was coming from a card party late on a November night. The night was dark and dismal and his homeward journey was through a fort. Just as he neared this place he heard a very mournful voice. As he was a man of unusual courage, the first cry did not frighten him.He proceeded on his journey. In a prominent corner of the fort under the shade of a hawthorn bush he saw a little woman with long, straight, white hair. She was combing it down, wailing with every comb she gave it. He went right up on the spur of the moment.She sprang from her rest and when he looked around she had vanished. He noticed that on her seat a little comb lay. Curiosity made him pick it up. It remained in his pocket until the following night.
